Our Eat The Rich Shirt. This design features the sunflower calendar page from Kalenderblad augustus met zonnebloemen (1902) by Theo van Hoytema. Sunflowers have a history of representing revolution, for example when suffragists adopted the sunflower during the 1867 Kansas suffrage campaign, including activists Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony who used the state flower as a rallying cry for voting rights. (source)

They’ve appeared in anti‑war marches, environmental protests, and more recently in demonstrations in Ukraine, where they became a symbol of resistance and resilience. There’s something wonderfully punk about a flower that grows tall, faces the sun, and refuses to wilt even in rough ground. It’s the botanical equivalent of kicking your landlord up the arse for raising rent again.

The Roman numerals MDCCCLXXXIX (1889) mark the year the guillotine made its punk comeback. People were fed up with a system that kept wealth and power locked at the top, and the guillotine became the grim shorthand for tearing that system down. In modern punk culture, it’s less about the blade and more about the attitude: a refusal to accept that the rich and powerful get to write all the rules.
